Looking to a common pattern of interlocking circles found in Chinese gardens, I carved a design that would create a larger pattern when stamped tightly together. After each successive stamp, I washed the ink off–and in doing so, washed my hands–before returning to stamp again. This sequence is repeated until the soap is too delicate to be handled; the remaining soap is left on the paper to conclude the process.
